How can I disable this? It doesn't go away until I click it unlike the blue update one.

What version of avast are you using Home or Pro.
What is your firewall?
Does it allow access for avast.setup the avast! Update process?
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Since the last program update, I get the red failing update screen also. Manual updateing works, though.
Is this a bug introduced with the last version?

And replies to the other two question from DavidR?

What is your firewall?

Sorry if I am bit presuming but does this thread help you?

Hello ,
Sorry for not having attached more info on the error. Here it is...

1) Avast Version is 4.6.739 Professional

2) The avast log writes this down on every automated update attempt:

18/12/2005 19:25:57   Administrator   712   An error has occured while attempting to update. Please check the logs.
18/12/2005 19:25:54   Administrator   712   Function SuperCopyFile() has failed. Return code is 00000020.

3) I am also using the PUSH Updates through the email. I have MailWasher checking every few minutes and whenever there is an update-mail, Avast gets the update without problems. The Updating through the PUSH Method seems to work, as Avast is up-to-date.

4) Firewall is Windows XP Firewall. Avast Processes are allowed. I also use Safe'n'Sec 2.0 for testing but also with both of these disabled Avast throws the error. So it's no issue on permissions on either process or network side.

Greetings,
Frank

Re 2. Did you try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select 'avast! Anti-Virus,' click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.

Re 3. I don't know how the Push updates work, obviously not using the standard update process avast.setup otherwise that wouldn't work either.

Does a manual update work, right click the avast icon, select Updating iAVS?

Re 4. Which processes, does that include avast.setup?
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

As far I noticed, the only diference on push updates is that it is started by the Internet Mail provider or Outlook plugin when they detect the email of push update. After that, the process is the same, using avast.setup file and permition into the firewall settings.
