Multi Function Printer Blocked
« on: December 26, 2015, 04:25:49 PM »
The Avast Firewall is blocking communication to my Brother MFC-J650DW printer.  Printer works fine with Windows firewall only, but not with Windows firewall off and Avast on.

I need instructions for a basic user that tell me how to make appropriate changes to my Avast firewall settings.

Set the firewall to ask what to do when traffic is detected.

You can also look in the log file to see what is blocked and set the appropriate rule(s) for it.

I appreciate the advice, but those instructions exceed my current skillset.  I did set it to ASK, but that never happened and whenever the firewall was turned back on, the printer is not accessible.

Check the printers manual, it may tell what is needed to be allowed in a firewall.
