Any issues with Avast Premier + Windoze 10 upgrade?
« on: December 27, 2015, 09:16:55 AM »
For reasons best known to herself, my wife wants to do the free upgrade to Windows 10 on her laptop which is running Avast Premier 11.1.2245.

If she does this, is my life likely to be complicated by the "free antivirus protection" that comes with W10 messing with Avast, or will the two programs just ignore each other?

Don't worry, Windows Defender should get automatically disabled.

There is one big problem with Avast and Windows 10. With Avast active, Windows 10's Start Menu and Cortana is not active.

You can not bring the Windows Start Menu either by clicking on the Windows icon or by using the Windows key on a Windows exclusive keyboard.

Cortana isn't anything to worry about, but having the Start Menu disabled is an EXTREME usability problem.

Simply reboot your system to Safe Mode with Networking. Once in Safe Mode, reboot your system to regular mode and the problem should be solved. :)
It's a known Windows 10 problem not an Avast problem. :)
