Simply discussing that there is some problem here..

We have to twiddle our thumbs while we wait for some kind of reply..

Nothing to stop you creating a new topic on other issues, but adding it to unrelated topics, just makes them more confused.

Got reply a few days ago. They asked me to run "avastclear" then re-install (again). I did so and at first it seemed okay, but after I started a couple of programs and closed them again it's back at 25% minimum CPU load. Updated my ticket accordingly, will see what happens.

I have on request submitted a system report to Avast support. My case has now been referred to another "level".
They have asked me to:

You have installed Malwarebytes.
We do not recommend you to use more than one security application on one computer. This may cause a lot of conflict.
Can you try uninstall Malwarebytes and then restart your PC, please.

Also I would recommend you run the Boot-time scan in Avast, by following these steps:
a) Open Avast by double clicking on the orange "a" ball in the task bar.
b) Update virus definitions in the ‘SETTINGS – Update’ section
c) Click SCAN  and then Scan for viruses.
d) From the drop down menu choose ‘Boot-time scan’ and click ‘Start’.

I personally have often complained that since the release of version 2, Malwarebytes uses a lot of resources.
On my system, it isn't Avast but MB that's hungry:

When I first start the system, It's Malwarebytes that's hogging my HD activity
and for a pretty long period of time. Hopefully there'll be an answer every one can live with.
I'm currently toying with the idea of turning off the resident part of Malwarebytes and going back to doing my scan's manually.

Absolute nonsense.Upon fresh reading of this very forum it would appear that many of the issues with avast which should of been addressed months ago have still not been fixed and no clear indication by avast staff that they will be fixed.Incidentally how on earth can malwarebytes be compared to avast when they are clearly 2 different products with differing security offered.
Question for you though..?
Why are you using 2 resident programs together and why use them indiscriminately.

Malwarebytes isn't an AV and has been built to run alongside/compliment anti-virus programs, Malwarebytes will also give preference to an AV program in the case of a detection to eliminate discrepancies.

Followed a couple of red herrings suggested by Avast support. (uninstall "Malwarebytes" among other things)
Performed a Boot scan (as suggested). This found a couple of Java viruses that were promptly removed. (don't know why they weren't detected earlier).
The first couple of times I subsequently restarted the PC, it was still at 25%. Then yesterday when I was preparing to follow their next suggestion (try latest beta version of Avast) I found it was down to 0% again! And it is still at 0% today.
Yipee! Not sure what actually fixed it in the end but all is well again. Could be a combination of Avast updates and getting rid of those pesky little viruses!?
