No New License Option - Portal in shambles - Features are Dead
« on: January 07, 2016, 12:47:26 PM »
Premium license just expired.
Portal still shows "premium" detailing "Premium features are enabled on the device"  under applicable device.
Warning above says Your license is inactive.
Premium options are not grayed out, however when used, result in "We are unable to connect to your device" and
under commands "This feature requires an Avast Mobile Premium license".

Are the premium features once provided now officially dead and and longer supported?
Does something need upgraded or installed to remain using the "premium" features?

I do not have much faith in the Avast brand if this is how they treat paying customers. This app/licensing transition appears to have been a long time in the works.  At this point  paying customers with expiring licenses should not be left  to just "figure it out" when it breaks.

Avast should provide an announcement if Avast Mobile Premium is dead and provide a recommended alternative.
Otherwise it leads me to believe the money received for this is not actually where they derive value from our use of the product.

avast AMS (both free and premium) are currently being replaced with AMS 5.
It is free and has several (if not all) the options the premium version had.
It is a completely newly build version.

Only fix to regain premium features was to purchase license through google play store.
Threads mentioning free whatever with ams 5 are incorrect.

Avast, Why no retail licence or voucher code for the suite of AMS products? I'm sure your customers would like a long term licence option not tied to google.

Is Avast just banking on the play store default auto renewal and users not turning it off?

They are correct AMS 5 is free and has some (if not all) of the premium features.

It doesn't make any sense at all to have a retail license for a free product.
