Google Chrome installer low reputation ?
« on: January 16, 2016, 12:36:16 AM »
I guess google chrome was updating and Avast flagged it as being a low reputation file.
C:\programme file\Google\Chrome\Application\47.0.2526.111\Installer\chrome.7z
Any ideas why ? I mean considering that .... etc.

I don't know why it would flag a .7z file as archives are inert (and not scanned by default, see image) until they are opened and files extracted.

In which case it would be detecting a file within the .7z file ?
If this has only just happened, right click on the avast tray icon and select 'Show last popup message.' Take a screenshot and attach it to your next post.

Actually this occurred yesterday. Also Crystal security classified this file as unknown and uploaded it to collective cloud whatever that means and it seems to be clean. Spyshelter HIPS did not even flinch. So I haven't got the foggiest what could have caused that. Perhaps is nothing to worry about.
Thank you David !

The low reputation is essentially that, a file that hasn't been digitally signed and hasn't been seen that much (by avast users) and the download location isn't well known, etc. will be flagged as suspicious (e.g. low reputation score).

As more avast users are downloading and using this then it would get a higher score, this may well be why it is no longer flagged.
