Webshield blocking page
« on: March 02, 2015, 11:27:00 PM »
Keep receiving pop-up message: AVAST web shield has blocked access to this page because
the following certificate has been revoked:  www.aol.com.  Use Windows 7, Firefox and IE 11.
How do I eliminate this recent issue.  AOL does not have a security certificate.

Using the free version of Avast 2015.  I have access to AOL, but the message keeps popping up.

Just updated to newest version of Avast as was indicated in previous message, but did not change my initial problem.
What is causing the problem and how to solve?

Contact AOL and tell them to solve the problem.
They are the ones who are using a revoked certificate.

Go to the unecrypted site http://www.aol.com/ instead, if you want to visit aol for whatever reason of yours.

I'm sorry, why should anyone contact AOL when Avast is the only software where this message pops up.  I fix computers for a living, I have had to remove Avast from a lot of computers.  Fix the problem, should be simple.

If you do fix computers you should know to look at dates since being up-to-date is important.
This is a 7 month old dead thread.
Things have changed (a lot) since then.

Good luck with Avast Web Site blocking.  It's blocked me from Walmart and 6 other places for on line ordering.  This "blocking" thing Avast loves so well, is costing me a lot of time and money.  My wife asked her firms IT people and they use a different virus protection firm and do not have this "blocking" problem.  Is there a "work around" that I can do, to get to my desired web sites?  Or go with another virus protection program?
