Blocking airflow to the router, modem or combo can cause things to overheat. Make sure you do not have anything stacked on top of or below either of these.

Also, try removing the power from the router and/or modem for a few minutes then apply power again.

My sister had her internet connection drop in and out and I found that she had stacked the router on top of the modem which caused both to become very hot.
Router isn't the problem, i can confirm this... I ran the troubleshooter in windows 8.1 it said the Wireless service had stopped and it started it back up again for me.. But what i am not getting why did the service in windows stop like that 3 times..

Have you tried going into event viewer to see if it might show errors?


What about updating your wireless network adapter?

I haven't done that.

edit: I'm going to uninstall xVid and see if powershell disappears from startup.. If not I'm going to use CCleaner to try to delete the entry on startup.

In the screenshot i provided there is.. Given I installed xVid after the FRST scan.. I'll do another if you want.

EDIT: I removed xVid and the powershell startup entry is now gone..

Edit: I am on my laptop now and so far so good, wifi is keeping today it seems.. If i get disconnected  any today i'll reply in the topic letting you guys know.

I wonder if it is an ISP problem or a landline problem
