Cannot connect to server:16135

I updated to the latest AES version (8.0.378) before Christmas. Everything has been working perfectly until this morning. Now when any of my workstations try to update, I get this: Last encountered error: Cannot connect to 10.0.240.3:16135 (unknown:16135). I went to Add/Remove Programs and when I went to Update, it got rid of 8.0.378 and went back to the version from April 2014. So, I reinstalled 8.0.378 and it's back, but my workstations still won't update.

Coincidentally, I've also got an error message in Windows Event Viewer that says "The SQL Server Agent (AVAST) service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s).

Any suggestions?

If you check your services, is the service actually stopped? Can you restart it?

No. Anytime I try to do anything with Avast or SQL, I get a myriad of error messages. I just now turned my server off and I'm going to do a fresh install of Windows and start over.
