I would say stick with it as it will get better. Look at it another way it can't get worse!

But, it was ALREADY A GOOD APP before v5! Why go backwards like this and then tell us fixes are coming. They should have left the Mobile AV app as it was and make this Beta Adware app available for the kids who voted for it as a suitable replacement for a serious AV app. Hopefully the truth will come out soon enough.

I don't know but it might be a genuine mistake which they are now trying to fix. You are right it is quite odd. I spoke to somebody in the AMS team and they told me that it was a way of getting more revenue.  As this way they give us a "premium" service for free but there are adds which pays for the free "premium".  Of course it pays them a lot more then a 14.99 a year subscription that we would normally pay for a premium subscription.

I figured it was all about the revenue. Greed ruins another great company and its products. Never thought this would happen to Avast. Profits before people. How terribly sad.

I hear you! As I said maybe they might change direction. It's a long shot but you never know.

Hi guys,

I have already "covered" the ads vs subscriptions topic here, there is no secrecy about that.

there is no secrecy about that.

But it was done without any prior notice and the Google Play pages were not even updated for a few days after the change.

But charge or no charge, it still doesn't explain why the app has been ruined. They should have just let us make a one off payment to buy the proper version before it was gone. Imagine how much that would have brought in for the greedy overlords who need to pay for the new headquarters. :)

Hi,

you don't need to buy the old version, you can just download the .apk file of AMS4 and everything will be free, even the previously premium features.

How long will AMS 4 be supported for?

That depends on what do you mean exactly. You should be getting new virus definitions for a long time (and I mean years), but there won't be any bugfix releases or so for the app itself.
