Re: Lack of answer
« Reply #15 on: February 05, 2016, 08:03:26 PM »

However, when I got that link and attempt to respond, I can not  do so, as it says I must complete the field for Order ID, but will not accept my ticket number.  It is a ctach 22, as it says I must respond, or they will cancel the ticket, but the email was sent to me today, and they will not accept my ticket #, so it is impossible to respond. It appears they already canceled the order before sending me the email saying they will cancel the order, if I don't respond.

This is really crazy. What can i do?  :-[

Hi,

Your refund has already been issued. The support ticket is being closed because the request has already been processed.
Closing the ticket doesn't mean cancelling your request :)
You actually don't need to reply, but in case you feel your case has not been resolved you can just reply to the email you received.

Thanks, Moroni!  Today I got an email saying my order has been processed and I will get the refund soon. Sorry if I got a bit upset there, but it was very confusing to get an email yesterday saying they were closing the ticket because they had heard nothing from me, as that was not at all the case.  In fact, it seems it was a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is up to. lol

These things happen. All's well that ends well. If I hadn't been so mixed up about this, I would have taken the discounted offer for Premier that I got last night, when I logged into my account. But didn't want to do anything before I know the ongoing ticket order had been sorted out. Afraid it might cause further confusion. lol  Oh, well, no biggie! Maybe next time.  ;)

No problem! Glad to hear that it was just a misunderstanding :)

What was the offer about? Send me a PM ;)

OK I may need to run a stronger tool than these, but lets see first

On completion of this try and re-install Avast again and let me know if there is an error

CAUTION :  This fix is only valid for this specific machine, using it on another may break your computer

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

the program you gave me has been running for hours and keeps saying that the farbar recovery tool is not responding. I don't want to cancel it in case it causes issues. what is the best course of action?

Cancel the programme , reboot and then do the following

Download and Install Combofix

Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:
Link 1
Link 2

VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

* IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • Accept the disclaimer and allow to update if it asks

  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
  • Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.[/b]
Notes:
1. Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. Do not "re-run" Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.

3.  If after the reboot you get errors about programmes being marked for deletion then reboot, that will cure it.

Please make sure you include the combo fix log in your next reply as well as describe how your computer is running now

Sorry for the lack of reply. I have been away with work the last few days. Scan logs as requested are attached. I have also been able to successfully download and install the latest version of avast pro and it has accepted the license avast provided me with.

No it all seems ok. The entire system seems quicker which for a laptop of this age is a nice surprise. Many thanks for your help. It's nice to see that people who have a talent for computers and software are willing to help those who do not. Not just write and publish malevolent  viruses and spyware.
