HI avast how are things going on this fine day.  I was wondering if I could ask question today I updated to the lasted version of avast the first time by going through the UI and clicking on Settings and then I clicked on update on the side bar and then I pushed on the update button where it is has the program version.  After avast free updated to the lasted version then I restarted my desktop computer and went back to the desktop.  Then I double clicked on Google Chrome lasted version while google chrome was starting I have noticed that their were no blue lines that would come across the Orange icon with the white A in the center of Avast free icon.  the blue lines I am talking about would go from right to left across the avast icon when avast free was scanning a website or if you were to send an email the blue lines would go across the icon all the time even when you would open or close applications or even if I closed my browser.  I also tried a repair and still nothing would happen.  So then I found the Avast uninstall tool from the avast website and did uninstall avast free through safe mode with no issues of any kind avast free uninstalled completely from my desktop computer with no issues or errors. After uninstalling avast free from my desktop computer I did re download avast free from the avast forum and going to New version and clicking on that link and i  clicked on avast free setup file and download avast free. I had no problems or issues downloading avast free at all.   I have the lasted avast free installed on my windows desktop computer with no issues at all avast free antivirus installed completely with no issues or errors of any kind.

What I would like to now avast team is is their something wrong with the lasted version of avast free on my desktop computer or will their be no more blue lines going across the orange circle with the white A any longer.  I would like to now how do I now if avast free is scanning any applications I download or open up or if I send or receive emails,  and how do I now if avast is scanning these things if their are no blue lines going from right to left to tell me if avast free is scanning anything or even updating.

Thanks avast team

some information that might be helpful is below:
Windows 10 home edition updated completely
64 bit operating system

Most other AV that I have tested don't have a animated icon, does that mean they can't be trusted?

Anyway, to test and answer your question use EICAR test file

HI Bob3160 I think I may of solved this issue I did notice that the animate when scanning was unchecked some how.  So I did put a check mark in the following box and the blue lines go across the avast icon in the tool bar now thanks Bob3160 for your help and advice.  Thanks.
