Avast Cleanup MAJOR issues
« on: February 05, 2016, 07:16:11 PM »
I recently ran Avast Cleanup on my laptop and now my laptop is completely screwed up! I can no longer open ANY of my programs. None. Not even Avast. My computer was fine before I ran it, just a little sluggish. Now it's basically unusable! What the heck did it do to my laptop, and how can it be fixed???

Just saying something is wrong without mentioning details is not really helpful.

e.g.
There is something wrong with my car.
Ok, what is wrong?
The color?
Is it missing a tire?
Do you hear a strange noise when parked?
or....

What OS/SP ?
What exact version of avast ?
Any other security (related) software installed ? (or was there)
Anything in the CleanUp log file ?
What happens if you try to start a application ?
Is safe mode still working ?
Was there a infection ?
etc.

Well, I did say what was wrong. I cannot open ANY programs. None. Not any of the Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) programs, not Dropbox, not Avast, not Adobe Reader, not Google Chrome, NOTHING.

What it will let me open is Microsoft Edge. I can then open some websites, but have great difficulty in getting them to load before they time out.

OS is Windows 10
Avast Pro
No other antivirus software
Can't check the CleanUp log file, as it won't open
Any time I try to open a program it tells me the application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000034). This happens for all of them.
No infection.

Hi, can you try to open Event Viewer to check Application and System log if there are some Critical or Error level issues?
