AswNetsec failed to load
« on: February 07, 2016, 12:04:45 PM »
Hi,

since the update to version 11.1.2253 today I see :
Event ID 7026 AswNetsec failed to load

Tried a clean re-install after uninstalling with the cleanup utility.
Error is still there

OS: Win7 64bit ultimate.

Original message in German:
Das Laden folgender Boot- oder Systemstarttreiber ist fehlgeschlagen:
aswNetSec

Any ideas how to fix this?

Cheers
Ralf

Edit: I am talking about Avast Internet Security

Start with a repair of Avast if that fails, do a Clean install.

Repair Avast:
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed

Clean Install of Avast:

I am getting this too since upgrading on 2/7/16. I did a repair as instructed but that didn't change anything. Event Viewer showing numerous Errors including:

  • The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: aswNetSec
  • The Avast Firewall service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 2 time(s).  The following corrective action will be taken in 5000 milliseconds: Restart the service.
  • The Avast Firewall service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 3 time(s).

Please ignore this issue on Windows 7. Currently we are changing architecture of firewall engine and this is side effect of this process. In the next version, old driver will be removed and aswNetSec will start to work.

So what does this mean for an XP computer -- that our only options are  1. wait until you come up with a new release, or  2. do an entire manual uninstall and then an entire fresh install, or   3. something else?

Hi Thomas,
Windows XP is another story, we have troubles with buggy network component installer there. Sometimes under some weird circumstances, Avast installer is not able to remove old and install new so called virtual adapter. But you can try following guideline. It could fix your problem.

1) Uninstall Avast and reboot
2) Follow these instructions http://www.extropy.com/forums/knowledge-bases-extropedia/microsoft/how-remove-hidden-network-adapters and uninstall all network adapters which contain 'avast' in name if any.
3) Install Avast and reboot

And, please, send me screenshot of Device Manager window with expanded network adapters.

Thanks,
Martin

Attached find Win10 Device Manager below:

This is how it should look like on Windows 7+ -- no "Avast" adapters in the list.

I am having the same problem after updating. Apart from the error message "the following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: aswNetSec", my computer keep crashing. Tried a clean re-install after uninstalling with the cleanup utility a few time. Also tried the repair option too. My computer keep crashing.

OS: Win7 64bit ultimate. Avast Internet Security (PAID Version)

I did tried to restore back to the earlier version using the system restore but that failed too.

Please help.

Novy

Hi Novy, what do you mean by "computer crashing"? Are you talking about blue screens (BSOD)? If yes, please could you check folder \Windows\Minidump. Is some *.dmp file there?

Hello,

I have the same problem "The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: aswNetSec". I use Avast Internet Security v. 11.2.2262. The problem began 14 days ago. I also can't start the Firewall manually. Any Idea how to solve the Problem??

On Feb 13. you wrote, that this issue will be removed wit the next version... But I got the problem still now! Do you have any solution???
