Firewall
« on: December 28, 2005, 06:24:28 PM »
Just for advice....

I notice that one respondent says that the Windows firewall is only half a firewall.

Would I be better off therefore in disabling the Windows Beta 1 firewall in my Windows XP and installing Kerio?

Thanks

1/2 a firewall is better than none and a full firewall is better than the windows one. Kerio and Zone Alarm free work well with avast, ZA is a relatively friendly user interface.

You may not need to disable the windows firewall some firewalls when they are installed disable it automatically, all you need do is check.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

:) If interested in "FREE" Firewalls, consider :

    1) Zone Alarm

    2) Kerio 2.1.5, but add "Harden-It 1.2"; see :
        www.321download.com/LastFreeware/page7.html

    3) Sygate, though this one is no longer "supported" :
see listing of "Newbie and Oldie's list" at :
