Auto update turned off - Avast pops up frequently to restart
« on: February 10, 2016, 04:03:36 AM »
(Unfortunately) I updated yesterday to the latest version of Avast Free - 11.1.2253

I CHOOSE to update when I want to and not AUTO UPDATE so I set that to Manual, as I have for years of using Avast.

Avast is popping up a restart message frequently to restart the computer - I assume to change to Auto Updating.
There's a link to switch to "Auto Update" and a link or button to "Restart computer".

I have tried the "Remind Me" - Next Century; Next Year; Next Month; or whatever the longterm options are.

None of them work.

All of this seems intended to drive away users.

How annoying can Avast be?

Frequent unnecessary popups!

A "Do Not Remind Me" option which does not work.

What's happened to this company?

Have you restarted the computer since the update ??? If not, you continue to get the reminder.
The new version isn't fully functional till the system is rebooted.

You are correct, thank you.

I was sure I had restarted at least once, for some reason needed another reboot, I thought it was relating to my having Auto Updates turned off.

My apologies to Avast. My mistake.

No need to apologize. Sometimes it takes 2 reboots for all the ducks to line up properly. :)Glad your problem is fixed. :)
