Firefox problems with Avast Web shield
« on: February 11, 2016, 05:31:45 PM »
I have recently installed Firefox onto my iMac. I am now having problems accessing websites with an error message 'Your connection is not secure' I have Avast antivirus software installed.

If I disable the Avast Web shield I am able to access websites but, not when the Avast webshield is on and protecting my pc.

(Please note, I have checked the correct time and date on the iMac, these are correct and not the issue)

Can anyone please advise?

Thanks.

What is giving the message ? avast or FireFox ?
A screenshot could help.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I have managed to resolve this via re-installing Avast and rebooting my pc. Hopefully it's now sorted.

Web Shield acts as a proxy when scanning HTTPS traffic, so if the avast root certificate was not properly installed it can trigger the issue you saw.

Glad to hear a reinstall fixed the issue
