The Outlook/Exchange section doesn't seem to be active, and the subheader says "The provider is waiting for a subsystem to start"
Outlook/Exchange Provider is workig only with MS Outlook and MS Exchange mail clients only.
For other mail clients, such as Outlook Express, Eudora etc., Internet Mail Provider is responsbile.
You could check just to be sure, if avast is scanning mail.
Pick a message, right click on it, choose Properties/Details, and there you can see:
X-Antivirus: avast! (VPS 0552-0, 12/27/2005), Inbound message
X-Antivirus-Status: Clean
if you can, avast is scanning your mail.
