Does Avast Free provide any kind of ransomware protection?
« on: March 08, 2017, 06:03:26 PM »
Look like a lot of other antivirus brands provide some kind of "separate" ransomware protection, or they have added ransomware protection "Function" in their antivirus program. I don't see Avast free provides any ransomware protection service. So how does Avast protect us from ransomware?

There is also another feature planned for anti-ransomware protection, it'll generically protect selected folders from being modified by untrusted programs. Not sure when the feature will be released, but I know it's in the works. The way we've seen it during Prague visit, it was pretty flexible and shouldn't be annoying to user at all while providing excellent protection without any signatures.
