connection problems (problemi di connessione)
« on: December 31, 2005, 06:13:15 PM »
Hi to all!!!! I'm Italian, but i have a problem with avast! that i can't resolving...
Now, I'm not good to translate in english and i will report my problem translated with power translator.....

If there's somebody that can speak me in italian, i would be very happy, please!!!

Reported message>>>>
Hi and meanwhile good parties,

I have from a little installed avast! 4.6.744 and I must say that it is a beautiful antivirus.
Compliments!
The only problem is that when I connect me to internet and I open the browser
(I use the latest version of Firefox, but also with internet explorer I have the
same problem) the pages are not loaded (with Firefox the state
remains * waiting for www.tizioecaio.it *).

I have noticed, however, that disarming the provider "Protection Web" the browser
magically is decontrolled and if I reload the page it is everything ok.
Same thing happens with the client of e mail (Mozilla Thunderbird): it connects him to the server pop3 however not unloads the messages;
I must disarm the provider of the mail of avast and all spins good.
If I reactivate the providers of avast all continues to work.... however
if I must adopt every time this method, when I unload the mail I
can't make  avast scan!

I thank you for your attention and I renew you the wishes of good year!
I hope confident in one answer of yours to my problem

Kindest regards
Salvatore Terranova

Hello! Welcome to avast forums.
Into the firewall settings, the following programs should be allowed to connect:

C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashWebSv.exe (avast! Web Scanner)
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashMaiSv.exe (avast! e-Mail Scanner Service)
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Setup\avast.setup (avast! Update executable)

Are you using Windows XP?
Which firewall do you use?

Control Panel > Windows Firewall > Exceptions > Programs and Services of avast must be allowed to connect.

Are you sure? It's a firewall's problem?
There may be other causes for this problem?

Sure, but we will only know if you try...
You can't browse and you can't download emails after installing avast.
The normal thing is firewall blocking avast to access the traffic and scans it  8)
