email virus

Hey,

I friend of me send me some mail, a few days later he says that some virus was include but he dont now the name. And my Avast home edition dont warning me!! How can i be sure that the virus is not on my computer??
Please help me!!

Well, there is a big lack of information in your message. You don't know the virus name, you don't even know if there was a virus at all...

Do you still have the message from your friend? How your friend discovered that his computer is infected? How does he know that the message to you was infected?

Many modern viruses fake the sender's address so that it looks that the message was sent by somebody different than the really infected person. Maybe you and your fried are not infected at all? We are not able to say this without some additional info.

You don't have the original message, do you?

But on the other hand,  even if we do not find out the name, as far as I know there is currently no virus which has been found In the Wild and which is not detected by avast! - so I think you can be pretty sure you are not infected.
