cannot update antivirus program in avast premiere

update is getting halted after sometime, inspite of repeated attempts.please help.

Perform a repair of avast and check if it solved the problem.
If not, perform a clean installation of the latest version.

Repair Avast:
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed
