WHY Avast SafeZone Browser is installed WITHOUT MY AUTORIZATION

Yep, I think Avast has become the biggest con ever. They know it is installed on millions of PCs worldwide and now they are acting like megalomaniacs and installing crap without our permission. Their greed has ruined the Android app, and now this too. Such a shame.

I used to be proud to say Avast protected my systems. Now, I am embarrassed and ashamed.

Needless to say, after a search of this new malware I was able to quickly remove it.

This is a classic case of the solution becoming the threat. Who guards the guards? we may well ask...

How is this different than spyware/malware? If I wanted this installed I should have had the option when I ran the setup initially, it wasn't available then, or I should have been prompted for my permission to run the install. To install it and then have the user opt out later, and remove it, is the same as spyware/malware.

You all are welcome. Turned on my PC to this little unwanted gem. I think its about time for me to find a new Anti-virus. Bye Avast which I've used both paid and free for the last 5 years.

Malware is harmful, the SafeZone Browser is not.

I don't care what excuse you try to use, Spyware/Malware does the same thing; installs unwanted software... So yeah, it is the same. I'll be moving on to antivirus software that doesn't do that.

Yes, I agree that it would have if avast told people upfront it was gonna install the SafeZone Browser.

Yes, you can remove it if you don't want it.

All av's that I have checked (over 20) have it in the EULA that they can install something without the users permission if they believe it is needed for safety of the system.

You installed it without my knowledge and no choice, when I rebooted. Regardless of your EULA that most people don't read, and although I MIGHT have given passive permission when I installed your program, this is deceptive and I did NOT tell my computer to install additional software YOU DID. This is outrageously deceptive and this kind of behavior by software makers should be against the law.

Yes, they could and should have announced it upfront.
They also could have showed a message after installing that it was installed with some information about it.
Fact is they didn't and it can't be undone.
Learn to live with it.

The concept of an Anti-Virus program installing a new browser without any permission is not acceptable. Period.

This is the worst kind of violation you can do to me. I want uninstall instructions now!!! If you would allow it this would be voiced in private but you don't even have the guts to let me send you a personal message. I have used Avast for a lot of years. I recommend it to a lot of people. I'm about to take my business elsewhere. Do not remove it without my permission. If you choose to root around in my computer I will remove your ability to 'protect' me.

2. You don't say who you are addressing - but I will take a wild guess - given that I have requested no support PMs.

I'm an avast user just like yourself and a volunteer helper on the forums (like many other respondents). I'm not an avast employee.
