Omit Adware From Scan?
« on: January 05, 2006, 11:38:06 PM »
I would like to configure Avast not to scan for adware.  Is this possible?  I have the Home Edition. Thanks.

No, it is not possible to exclude specific (type of) malware from scanning. You can exclude specific files, however - put them to the list of exclusions.

Whilst you can't exclude a particular type of malware in an avast scan, avast is however a specialist anti-virus and doesn't detect that much adware (IMHO).

That is why I use alternatives for adware scanning, Ad-Aware and Spybot Search & Destroy and SpywareBlaster. There are other freeware anti-adware/spyware tools available.
