Was my pc infected?
« on: March 23, 2016, 05:10:55 PM »
Earlier today, my couzin inserted an Infected flashdrive unto my pc. When we scanned the flashdrive using avast a win32:Malware-Gen was detected and I automtically clicked the fix button and off it went into quarantine where I deleted it.

Was it possible that my Pc got infected right away? I do have Avast Free Protection on, Usb Disk Security and my Secondary Malware purger Malwarebytes on the pc.

Avast did not detect it upon insertion of the flashdrive however. Should I be worried about it?

I did run a Full system scan, a boot scan and even Malwarebytes right after and it showed 0 Virus/Malware was present on the Pc.

Was my pc infected?
Do you want a check? .... if so, follow instructions

follow instructions here  https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
scroll down to second picture    Farbar Recovery Scan Tool  attach the logs, 2 logs total

see below the box you write in ... Attachments and other options

Then scroll down to  ... SPECIFIC INFECTIONS LOGS
Follow MCShield instructions .... this log you copy and paste here

a malware expert will then assist you when online

Then it may not be of any use now, however this is a very good tool to install and keep

It will scan and clean any removable storage device as soon as it is plugged in
MCShield only target those malware types that use removable device to spread so it will not scan all files stored, that is a job for your AV

Wanted to know if it was indeed possible that it did infect my pc upon inserting the flash drive. My usb disk security did not detect any Autorun Files/Viruses though.

Looks like Avast zapped it... Are you experiencing any problems ?

No actually, just making sure. :) because upon insertion no avast warnings popped up. It was upon a scan of the drive that it was found.
