avast chewing up a lot of my disc space

I never had this problem before. My computer is a 20 gig c hard drive only and normally I would have around 5 gigs free. Since I have installed avast this has dropped to 2 gig. Every time I go online using avast safe zone, I lose around 300 Mb. Please, can someone help me with this problem before I have no space left at all. Thanks

Please post in the correct forum and provide details (OS/SP, avast version, browser version etc)
