Start up time
« on: April 02, 2016, 04:12:03 PM »
I use a piece of software that times how long it takes my PC to boot - and then lists the programs and services that start, and how long it takes them to get going.
Normally, my boot time is between 24 and 31 seconds.  This morning, Avast's time alone was over 20 seconds..
What did you avast programmers do????

It can be you received a rather large vps update.
They differ in size each time.

It can also be avast was scanning something that loaded before avast.
Loading sequence in Windows is not a fixed thing.

If you are quick, open the Task Manager and look for instup.exe, that is the avast install and update executable.

Normally I only see this for a very short time, if you have a larger download it will take longer as it also does integrity checks if what has been downloaded.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Thanks Eddy and David,
I hope it was a scan.. I have the updates on manual.  I guess I'll hunt for a log to see if there's something on my startup sequence that avast would look sideways at.
