Currently there is no easy way how to export bookmarks to some universal format. We plan to add it in some of the further releases.

However copy your Bookmarks file for backup purpose. It is stored in your browser profile:

e.g.
c:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\SZBrowser\profile\USERNAME\Bookmarks

@ ondrejz
Do the SafeZone Browser Bookmarks get saved if the user runs the AvastUI > Settings > General (scroll to bottom of page) Back up settings ?

Plus the obvious do they get imported when using the Restore settings ?

Would this not be the best way to backup and restore these ?

SafeZone configuration is separated from Avast. My opinion is that it will not be a good way to make another dependency on Avast. Browser should definitely support the bookmarks/settings export.

The advice to use the bookmark file is good, except it doesn't seem to be in html format, and as there is no extension to this file (all other file extensions appear on my computer), I have no way to know what it is. It's not very nice to be taken hostage by a software!  >:( . And incidentally, if I ask you the question it's because the Avast SafeZone help option sends me here! Thanks for your help!

What kind of file is the Avast SafeZone bookmarks file ? It has no extension and another browser does not recognize it as html.

What kind of file is the Avast SafeZone bookmarks file ? It has no extension and another browser does not recognize it as html.

I don't use the SZ Browser, so I can't check this out. The location is c:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\SZBrowser\profile\USERNAME\Bookmarks are there any files in this folder ?

If so can you do a screenshot of that folder in windows explorer.
Windows has a default of not displaying file types (of know types, which isn't helpful), but as you said you can see other file types, then it may already be set to show all file types.

I answer to both replies : there is no bookmarks folder, only a bookmarks file, and I think the absence of extension is on purpose. The bookmarks file does not want to open in a text editor, but it opened in Internet Explorer, and it looks like that :
{
   "checksum": "bcb2baa5ebc85c1abb9fb2e7a7b21e1b",
   "roots": {
      "bookmark_bar": {
         "children": [ {
            "date_added": "13086700088000000",
            "id": "27",
            "name": "Boîte de réception - francine.mccaffery@gmail.com - Gmail",
            "type": "url",
            "url": "https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox"
         }, {
            "date_added": "13091625467000000",
            "id": "31",
            "name": "MW",
            "type": "url",
            "url": "http://www.sanskrit-lexicon.uni-koeln.de/scans/MWScan/2014/web/index.php"
         },
Any idea about the format ?

It does somewhat look like a xml file.

p.s.
It is not a smart thing to show your email on a public webboard.

I have looked on my Avast file and after SZ Browser there is no profile option; this is a serious issue that needs resolving, I rely heavily on my bookmarks and because Avast safezone wouldnt work for me for 2 days, had no way of accessing them, and now it seems I cant even export them as a backup? All these on principle is making me feel like abandoning ASZ but leaves me with one option of painstakingly coping over all my bookmarks

The folder and file is there.
Make sure you have "show hidden and system files" enabled.
