In the scheme of things 98.8 isn't all that bad but for all the technology avast promotes in their products I would have expected better.

https://www.avast.com/en-us/technology
Yes.98.8 in Dec 2015 but it falls to 98.2 in Feb 2016.

A very small change. It may be in the wrong direction but it's still a very small change and still leaves it near the top in the ratings.
What caused the decline were 3 false positives not an ability to detect actual threats. :)

The false positives are separate from the detection

ex: Trend Micro had 100% + 14 FP on the clean set

One thing is that because of Autoanalyzer the submitted unblocked viruses take lot of time to detected.I have a sample of Ransomware(.JS) that take 3 days to block by Avast!.3 days can you imagine that. if it was my main pc then what happend you can imagine that.So really avast! has to change for better way.

I never thought I'd say this but I'm also thinking of looking elsewhere once my current subscription is up.  I'm sick of unnecessary bloat and the constant pushing of more services, as well as not being able to delete old devices from my account (which I thought from comments on past complaints was something that Avast was supposed to be sorting - but alas no because I'm still stuck with devices in my list that I no longer have and cannot remove) nor being able to get anything but "Unexpected Error.  An unexpected error occurred on the server, we are working on the solution" when I try to sign into my Avast via the UI. (I thought updates were supposed to improve services, not render sections of them unusable - I never had this problem before updating to the latest version.)

I'm kinda glad this topic started, this gives the us a chance to voice our opinions and for the avast team to listen and try to fix what needs to be fixed.

The whole point about the deepscreen function is to help avast detect threats in real time without any signatures.Right now this function is a complete failure just way too many things are getting past it.I like evo-gen and all the other fancy stuff but seriously right the product is cracking becoming more of a liability and bloat.

I think it would be better for the developers to focus their attention back to detection rates right now because that seems to have dropped this year.

When it's even working. The basic DeepScreen is rubbish and the DeepScreen NG wasn't even working for months on Windows 10 64bit. It was fixed in build 2260 for 1 whole day and then build 2261 was released where NG was broken again and still doesn't work. This was really the tipping point where I said enough is enough.

True I have been with avast since v4 days....but still this v2016 is completely failing in its promises.Deepscreen/NG is all fun stuff to talk about but it isn't doing its job not even half of what it was 1/2 years back

I said on this forum a year ago that SVM was somebody's proof of concept and not much more.  I would think that if it's not working by now, it should be withdrawn or even abandoned.
Lots of precedent for this in software project's.  Usually
Happens when an idea grows and develops in a vacuum.
