blocking downloads

I have been trying to dl an update to an existing program.  This is a program update from source forge a trusted site, by me.  How do I modify the avast program to allow this type of dl? And why would this program block source forge?

avast is not blocking sourceforge.
Downloads are also not blocked unless something (potential) harmful is detected or if there is a (small) bug.

does avast give a message when blocking? ... if so what does it say, you may post a screenshot
