Unethical billing practices by Nexway
« on: April 23, 2016, 08:52:00 PM »
We use to use Avast on all the computers in our back office and our training center but closed the business 2 years ago. When I noticed a suspicious charge from Avast Nexway on my credit card I found that there was an autorenew feature.  I found no way to cancel on the website.  I called Nexway 11 times over the course of two weeks during their business hours.  In every case the message said it was out of business hours or their reps were all busy, then hung up.  There was no way to hold and get service.  It seems quite clear to me that this process is engineered to make it as difficult as possible to cancel and therefor to bilk busy people out of as many unintended payments as possible. This IMHO is an unethical business practice.  While I would definitely use Avast on all my machines based on value and performance, unfortunately I would never knowingly get anywhere near a company like Nexway again.

You can find the instructions to disable the auto renewal for your trial here https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB126#artTitle
Once the auto renewal is disabled, the trial will expire after the 60 days and it won't charge you for a 1 year licence.
