"Scan was completed with error"

I was trying to do a scan of a file and recieved this error message...

"Scan was completed with error.
  Error:Cannot create a file when that file already exists"

Any clues as to what caused this and how to fix it?

Can you clean your temporary files?

1. To do this go to Internet explorer >Tools > Internet options > Delete files > Click delete all offline content (just to be sure) > click ok.
2. Delete the files into C:\Windows\Temp and C:\Documents and Settings\<your name>\Local configurations\Temp
3. Scan again

Or you can download and install temporary washer applications.
Maybe avast is trying to unpack some archive file and the file already exists (cached).
