Can't reach many sites with safezone browser
« on: April 25, 2016, 03:20:14 PM »
For example spamcop.net

I get this message

Quote
This webpage is not available

Avast SafeZone cannot reach the website. This is typically caused by network issues, but can also be the result of a misconfigured firewall or proxy server.
Allow SafeZone to access the network in your firewall or antivirus settings.
If it is already listed as a program allowed to access the network, try removing it from the list and adding it again.
If you use a proxy server...
Check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server: Go to the SafeZone menu > Settings > Change proxy settings... > LAN Settings and deselect "Use a proxy server for your LAN".

I have checked the firewall & tried checking and unchecking "Use proxy server"

Crazy thing is it works on my laptop but not on my PC - both machines going via the same router, Both running windows 7 ultimate, both with the same firewall and safezone settings (as fas as I can see)

In addition Halifax website loops back to login screen after logging in!

What on earth is going on?

Help!

Do both systems have the exact same version of avast installed?
If so, compare all settings of avast in them.

Do both systems have the exact same security installed?

What firewall is used?
If the same on both systems, are the setting/rules the same?

Yes they do. The only difference is the system that is playing up is the one I purchased Avast from. I bought multiple licences and the one I just put the key in is fine.

As far as I am aware

Both use the router's firewall & the windows firewall.

As far as I can tell, but turning off the windows firewall makes no difference.

If everything is (about) the same on both systems, I would say it is a setting somewhere that is different.
Are both systems connecting the same way (wire or wifi) ?

Check if the network type in the avast is the same.
I suspect they are set different.

If they are set the same, perform a repair of avast on the troublerd system and see if it makes a diference.

Both are wired.

How do I do that?

Network type is home network

IE, Edge, Chrome, Firefox have no issues reaching spamcop.net - only the Avast Safezone browser!

Time for avast to have a look at it.
Submit a ticket and place a link to this thread in the message.

I'm having the same problem with Halifax Online banking. Halifax Bank have told me that this is because 'Avast Browser is refusing access to our secure site'. I have fed this information back to Avast.

I have repaired & updated AVAST to 11.2.2262 (I was on 11.2.2261) - No joy. Have sent screen shot to AVAST and await response.

Sad to say I am not very impressed with the safezone browser so far. I will use it on my laptop when browsing on unsecured wifi - which I only do once in a blue moon. Otherwise I can't see the advantages at present.

please can you disable ipv6 ---> http://www.home-network-help.com/disable-ipv6-in-windows-7.html
Done, but not the registry edit. Made no difference.
Laptop & SO's PC (both go to spamcop) have IPv6 enabled. So I don't think it's anything to do with IPv6

there seems to be some issue with SZB trying to route thru ipv6. I tested this site yesterday and it didnt work for me, I disabled ipv6 and it worked with no issues and the browsing speed improved quite a lot too.
