Attempting to uninstall
« on: April 28, 2016, 07:30:19 PM »
Hi, I recently installed Avast the free version on to my lap top.  However, since then I have not been able to access Internet Explorer.
So I am attempting to uninstall ( with a view to reinstalling when I have reassessed the situation)

I followed the basic online instructions, via the uninstall installed programmes, followed the instructions... It's gone as far as getting a full box on the orange uninstall progress bar but has now been stuck on "replacing files" for well over two hours.

Is this normal?

Will it be nearing an end to the uninstall or if not what should I do?

I am not very computer techie I'm afraid so go easy on me! Thanks all.

It didn't give me an error, simply went to attempt to open IE, showed a white screen then clicks off.  It did it yesterday and today so I figured uninstall and try again.

So as far as being stuck on "replacing files" in the Unistall.... Should I reboot then?  And if so, how do I do that? - sorry told you I am very novice!

Did you remove any (pre)installed av before installing avast?

The uninstall tool needs to be run in safe mode.
