email scanning

i just downloaded avast 4.6 for home. how do i know if avast in scanning my email? i was using avg and it would tell me if the mail was scanned.

Look in your taskbar and when e-mail scan is active a  small mail icon will appear as long as the scan is in progress

Check the email header information, it should shoe something like this:
X-Antivirus: avast! (VPS 0602-3, 13/01/2006), Inbound message
X-Antivirus-Status: Clean

You can also check the on-access detailed view for the Internet Mail provider, the Scanned Count: should increase.
