I want to let AVAST know that I don't appreciate unwanted software being installed on my computer along with their virus update!  Because of Chrome's tracking tactics I don't want to use their browser or search engine.  So please, AVAST, save me from having to delete chrome when you update my virus software!

When there is a update available of the malware database for your system, avast is only installing that and nothing else.

This may have been a silent program update as I found recently (2261 > 2262) even though I had the Program
Update set to manual.  Then it asks you to reboot and when the system restarts a window opens up with Chrome
pre-selected in the lower left corner

Nothing has changed regarding Chrome in the last 3+ years. I.e., we present an offer for Chrome during install, and after program update (in the Completing Your Update screen). That's it...
