Avast Ransomware Decryption Tools [Updated]

AES_NI is a ransomware strain that first appeared in December 2016. Since then, we’ve observed multiple variants, with different file extensions. For encrypting files, the ransomware uses AES-256 combined with RSA-2048.

Avast Ransomware Decryption Tools [Updated]

XData ransomware was discovered mid-May and now, two weeks later, we have released a free decryption tool for victims hit by XData ransomware that they can use to decrypt their data. XData is a ransomware strain that was derived from AES_NI and like WannaCry, it uses the Eternal Blue exploit to spread to other machines.

EncrypTile is a ransomware that we first observed in November of 2016. After a half-year development, we caught a new, final version of this ransomware. It uses AES-128 encryption, uring a key that is constant for a given PC and user.

Avast Cleanup Premium Beta-Test [1.0.2290.0]

For everyone who has troubles with activating the Beta version we have discovered that it is because of the Avast self-defense which is blocking the access to the license file and therefore the Cleanup cannot verify the license. We already have prepared an update which shall resolve this issue but until we will be able to release it, here is a workaround you could use...

• Navigate to Avast - Settings - Troubleshooting - Disable the Avast self-defense
• Start the Avast Cleanup and it shall check the license and run smoothly afterwards
• You can then safely re-enable the Avast self-defense

Avast Cleanup Premium Beta-Test [1.0.2504]

We have just released a second Beta version of Avast Cleanup product!

Changelog/Fixes:
• Fixed Cleanup activation problem when you have Avast Antivirus installed on the same machine
• Fixed Browser Data cleaning - there is a prompt to save your work before the browsers are closed to be cleaned
• Fixed Rescue Center - there are now correct timestamps on backups
• Improved Disk Cleaner - it detects also items in Windows Recycle Bin
• Improved Action Center - it contains messages from Browser Data component and it shows bigger notification badges on the Taskbar icon
• Other important bugfixes

Known issues:

Avast Cleanup Premium Beta-Test [17.1.2773]

• Product major version has been changed to 17 due to dependencies on Avast AV product
