Avast secureline payment issues
« on: June 11, 2016, 03:50:15 AM »
I went onto avast website and extended the avast secureline trial for 30 days to 60 days. I put in my paypal account and when I tried it at my school it didn't work. So I disabled the automatic payments on both paypal and in my account settings on avast. Now I owe $61.99 to the bank because I only had $15 in the account PayPal used to charge. Is there any possible way to fix this? I don't wana pay for something I don't want!

The exact same thing happened to me (my payment was for $49.99), including not having enough money in PayPal to cover the amount, for which my bank charged me a $30 overdraft fee.

I'm now trying to find out how I contact Avast to request a refund (and be compensated for the overdraft fee).

Does anyone have an email address for this kind of problem?

You very likely will not get the overdraft compensated as that is something between you and your bank.

To contact avast > https://support.avast.com

Probably not, but I'll ask anyway.

I went to Avast!'s "Support" page and created a "ticket" for the problem:

Ok, now have some patience.
Someone from avast will handle it.
But keep in mind that it is weekend and not many people are working there, so it can be they respond to you on monday.

I'm in no hurry. (I'm a relaxed kind of guy.)

Mostly well. I was still left with the $30 overdraft fee from my bank that Avast! says they're unable to cover.

But I'm happy with the refund – plus Avast! gave me a six-month subscription as compensation.

As I said, the overdraft is something between you and your bank.
As expected avast does not compensate that.

But you got the refund and 6 months free.
Since Secureline is $59,99 a year and you got that 6 months for free....
You could say you also got that $30 overdraft fee back ;)

Not quite. I wasn't offered SecureLine.

On Thursday June 16, in addition to the refund (thank you, Avast!) I was offered a "free subscription for Avast Internet Security - 1 user, 6 months".

I accepted, but I'm still on the original 30-day trial. I don't know how long activation takes, but I didn't think it'd take more than four days.

Please don't get me wrong. I'm not annoyed or ungrateful, just puzzled as to why I don't see my Avast! account showing me as having the full Internet Security. I thought that, because all of this stuff is done electronically, activation would be close to instant. (Maybe Avast! will activate it at the end of the trial. Who knows?)

You need to activate it yourself with the license file or with a activation code.
Login to your avast account and check licenses there.

OK. Thanks, Eddy.

Update: Avast! haven't given me an activation code. Will I need to ask for it?

Update 2: I thought activation code might be in my account, so I logged into my account, clicked on Licenses, but nothing's there.

No activation code in the reaction to your ticket ?
Already checked your mail ?
If you really can't find it, contact avast again.
