after boot scan no scan history or chest available

Windows 10 full install done 2 months ago.

Windows defender found many viruses and scans wouldn't complete. Some strange behaviour supported possible infection.

Computer hop ran external virus checkers and considered desktop clean. Installed avast free.

I installed avast premier trial.

After scans found and fixed threats, it advised a boot scan to which I agreed.

It took many days for internal and external drives.

Once avast was reopened it no longer had scan history or chest available.

Can't see where log file location is in settings.

How can i access information on detected files, errors and action taken during boot and other scans?

I found the boot log by searching  for aswBoot.txt in C:\

i found the chest in folder chest index.xml

Did you find anything of use in the aswboot.txt file, it can be very large and much of it.

Scan History is normally in the associated text files (they are named the same as the scan name) in the C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\report folder, see attached image.

The chest folder (externally) isn't of much use as:
1. The files in it are encrypted.
2. The file names are also changed.

This is to prevent them being extracted and or run.

Viewing the virus chest from within the avastUI, is preferable.
What did you try when trying to access it from the avastUI ?

Did you try accessing it directly from the avast tray icon, see attached image.

I can no longer see scan history  or virus chest in the program screen from th2 task bar icon.

Have you tried a repair of avast:
Vista, win7 or later - Control Panel, Programs & Features, uninstall a program, select 'avast! Anti-Virus,' click the Uninstall/Change and select Repair, click next and follow.

You may need to reboot after the repair.

I found history etc on the"select folder to scan" screen. I hadn't opened that screen since the boot scan so history etc may have been there all along.

All is well now.
