I decided to try this new version out on my new RCA Windows tablet. I thought it would be a good test on a machine running Windows 10 with only 2 gigs of RAM and a relatively weak processor. I only installed the 3 shields and the network protection. I also installed the Safe Zone Browser. So far I'm liking this new version. My boot time seems the same and there don't seem to be any slowdowns anywhere. I tested the web/phishing protection by trying to go to sites reported on phishtank.com and every site was blocked. I have to say I'm impressed. Avast seems better than ever and I just might return to the fold on all my machines. I like the idea of the monthly program updates too.

How long can we hold off updating?

Can we get  a separate program to do this task ???
Install it if you like the function, or don't if you don't need it.

Hi Bob, see: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=187676.0
I'm simply pointing out that it's still not fixed for those of us who are affected.
Time for Avast to fix the problem. :)

Just tried the Settings Backup on Windows 10 Home 64 Bit and it did exactly what
it should do. Backed them up. Not sure why some are having issue and others not.
My avast is the very latest stable free version released.
Dell Dimension 8200 P4 1.8Ghz Windows XP PRO SP3
Avast Free Antivirus 18.8.2356
Toshiba Satellite C855-S5347 Celeron B830 1.8Ghz

Hello. I got this update today, and now Task Manager shows that "RegSvr.exe" is running constantly. I looked it up on Google and people say that this is a virus that's a key/mouselogger and messes with other programs. Scanned it with MalwareBytes, Avast and Security Task Manager (wich calls it "Avast Antivirus installer"), and they all say that it's harmless, though I'm not sure because it doesn't let me close it with Task Manager and that's kinda suspicious.
Could someone tell me if it's safe or not? I'm pretty sure this program wasn't on my computer prior to this update. Also, I'm using Windows XP SP3 by the way.

Doesn't work here either. It gives an error and says access is denied. Windows 10 Home 32 bit.

« Reply #73 on: June 23, 2016, 11:46:27 PM »
- Removed Remote assistance - not used enough and not a core functionality

DOWNGRADES SUCK!  Please bring it back...

This was a great feature that set AVAST apart from every other AV free or paid.

It may have been Just because no one knew it was there, much more useful
than yet another secure browser.

I have recommended and installed the free avast on over 500 computers for
customers and many of them have upgraded to the paid version.

I would never use the remote assistance and the capability is always one of the first things I disable in a Windows installation.
