One thing I do not like, is if the update is done by the GUI, the program likes to install all the new features, like Safe Zone, etc.
Some people do not want all the extras, just the basic antivirus protection. There is no reason the program should not just update what is already installed and offer a choice of wether or not to install additional components. The other way is to run the Offline installer and select customize to select what you want or not. But this is more time consuming and confusing for the average user.

It depends. A lot of program functions have already been moved to VPS updates. Basically everything under the hood that doesn't involve changes to the drivers can be done via VPS. For GUI and more advanced things, the still have to issue a classic program update. Maybe they changed this further to require even less system restarts...
I'd love that, I hate doing multiple restarts on multiple machines every time avast starts.

Agreed. All I ever install are the Shields and the Browser Plugin (Which I love BTW)

Was unaware of the offline installer, will start using that. Still seems like an unnecessary hurtle though

I did a test with the new version, the result was not good, very disappointing missed several threats including a rogue software.I have seen that CyberCapture seldom showed active
and blocked only one file.with 260 files in avast execution provide reasonable assurance in blocking some threats.the folder scan found 34 files, left was 217 remaining files.the samples were not as recent a few to almost two years.

Why the online installer size is different in your main website? Avast free antivirus's installer size is 4.8 MB in your main website (redirects to cnet) and here its 6 MB (link you posted here). ???

CyberCapture only works with threat from web according to beta topics.
To me your screenshot seems to be traditional DeepScreen.
NG is removed now, but traditional DeepScreen seems to be still on the job.

My installations updated automatically to 12.1.2272. I didn't even recognize it, just when I got notified about the update through other channels.

If the new versions go through longer beta tests, this seems to be a good way of keeping people up-to-date. Corporate environments (using managed versions) however should be treated differently in the future of course.

Nice release, keep on removing buggy stuff!

Btw..as usual we provide a German translation of the 12.1.2272 release notes.

So will these silent monthly updates require a restart or not?

Yes there will be restart required after the monthly update, but we won't bother you with some dialogs. We know that users are restarting by themselves pretty often. So we will notify you only in case you don't restart for a long time to finish the update..

There will be no silent monthly updates on my PC. I update everything manually because I don't like
unwanted "surprises" like Chrome or SafeZone browser installation. I hope you'll continue to post links for full installers
here on the forum.
BTW, after adding additional language, UI froze so I had to reboot to fix that.
I don't know why I have to add additional language after every program update and why additional language setting is not remembered.

I would rather not prefer to test samples that more than 6 months old...they are equivalent as dead ones to the real world. Also alot of those samples looked like adware downloaders and bunch of crap to me.

Is CyberCapture for downloaded files?? Because in that case what happens if the file is already on the pc or is coming a USB stick??  ::) This is becoming like comodo's sandbox which also is only for downloaded files unless settings are changed  :o
