avast screwing up AGAIN !

Yesterday there was no problem at all.
Now I received the pop-up as shown in the picture.

Where did my device go ?
I was there a few hours ago, now it is all of a sudden gone

"Activate this device" ?
Eh how to do so if avast has removed it ?

"has not been activated and will be disabled soon" ?
It was activated, until a few moments ago !

I really starting to wonder if there is anyone left at avast that is using his/her brains.

All received a mail form avast dot com to change their avast accounts credentials because of the 2014 hack....
Maybe this has something to do with it?

avast at least could and should have given a (possible) explanation for it.

I (still?) haven't received a mail about the "change password because of the hack".
avast should at least have mentioned it is sending those mails here on the webboard as well as on their website.

And 2 years after the hack they are asking people that ?
That is like calling a doctor for someone who's head was cut off and asking "can you still safe his life?"

It seems avast is living in a dreamworld.

- I clicked on add devices.
- Downloaded the full installer and ran it.
- Installing went fine.

When finished it said that a scan would be started.
Eh nope, no scan started at all.
Only the GUI was opened with the overview.
And as I already suspected, no device was added

The GUI says "subscription has expired".

I placed back a image from a date just a few days before the problems began.
Three days later strangely(?) still no pop-up about a activation.
The GUI said that the license is not valid and the only option is to click on a link to buy a license.
The device didn't showed up on the dashboard at business.avast.com
The link with "Add devices" didn't worked in Opera nor in FireFox, it worked in Chrome though.
1-2 weeks ago it was working in all browsers.

Today I tried things again.
Still getting the error in Opera and the link to add new devices is not working.
In FF I get the message about the busy/non responsive script.
Clicking continue each time eventually takes me to the dashboard and allows me to download the installer.
Both the online as well as the offline one downloaded.
The last few times tried I got a error that it was not possible to install on a non SSE2 supporting system.
Today all of a sudden the installation worked again.
Without rebooting, all green lights in the GUI again.
After waiting about 1 hour the dashboard still says that there are no devices.

Had the same problem. Had to re-activate all PCs. Resulted in 2 listings for each in the console. When I deleted the inactive one, the activated Avast uninstalled itself

3 days ago I got a pop-up saying that my subscription for the free business cloud version would expire in 3 days and that I had to activate the license again through my account.

Ok, let's do it...

Not possible ofcourse since the system is not showing up on https://business.avast.com for months already

Just now I got a screen saying avast needed to reboot the system.
Ok, lets do it.
After reboot the protection is disable and shields can't be enabled again.
Protection/shields where working before the reboot.

Let's try a repair...
hmm, the "famous" failed to load language dll
Another problem avast still hasn't solved as it seems.

Ah, well let's reboot again and see what happens.
No change...
(double) clicking the avast icon near the clock doesn't open the UI anymore

Ok, orange ball  in the taskbar has the red circle with the white X in it indicating that avast is not working (properly).
UI says that the system is not protected.

Right clicking the avast icon > avast shields control....
Ok, it says all shields are on while the system is not protected.

Trying to open a site of which I know is blocked/malicious and the webshield gives a warning.
A strong indication that protection is still working.

avastsvc is using 0% of the cpu.
That is till I open a application, than it rises up to 99%.
When the application completed opening the use goes back to 0%
Another strong indication that the protection is still working.

According to avast this system is connected to my business account.
Yet it still doesn't show up on the dashboard.

I'm offering $1 for the capturing of the Gremlin who is causing this.

Finally solved.

The offline installer only works on a system with SSE-2 instruction support.

The online installer checks and downloads the latest working version for a system.
It turns out (as it seems) that when there is a slow connection the online installer starts working/downloading things before all javascript on the page has loaded.
When this happens the online installer just grabs the version that requires SSE-2 instruction support.
