Latest version of Avast blocks Flashpeak SlimJet?
« on: June 26, 2016, 06:55:47 PM »
Okay after a year and a half or so I am trying out the latest AVAST Antivirus (build number 12.1.2272). It looks good and is really light on my Desktop. But ... I did notice an odd thing, namely what I described in the topic title. After I installed Avast Anti-virus Free I could start Flash peak Slimjet once, but after that I could no longer do that. I solved it by placing the Slimjet folder in the exclusion list, but itis a bit odd that Avast blocks it.

It is a popular browser by those who know it and use it, it is a safe browser that follows the Chrome builds quit closely. Maybe the Avast team can add it to a whitelist/trusted list of CyberCapture or something? Mainly because I ( And possibly others who use Slimjet. ) see no reason why Avast should block Slimjet? )

There should be a message from avast if blocking it ... is there one and what does it say?

In the case avast doesn't give a message, check the log file(s) for more information.

Well I do not get a warning message for a Virus or something related to something bad happening. I attached a screenshot of the message I get when I take Slimjet out of the exclusion list under "File system Shield". It is in Dutch, but it basically lets me know that I can not get access to that file ... or I do not have the right clearance level for the file. But I am the only one using this computer so I have an admin account, so that can not be the case?

After I added SlimJet to the exclusion list under "File system Shield" I could use Slimjet again. So despite the fact that I did not get a Virus/Malware warning or such, it seems to me that Avast still some how blocks Slimjet.exe from executing when I do not exclude the Slimjet folder? ( At least that is the conclusion I come to at the moment. )

That is not a avast message. All avast messages have avast name and logo

Yeah I mentioned it already that it is not a Virus/Malware warning, but as long as I do not have Slimjet in the exclusion list, then Slimjet will not start. As soon as I do place Slimjet in the exclusion list then Slimjet works. For realtime protection I only use Avast and Windows Firewall with GlassWire. ( And Glasswire does not block anything unless I tell it to. ) So to me that means that one way or the other Avast is involved some how.
