Just as a suggestion, I always disable this product just before updating to another Windows 10 insider preview build.
I've had the program once do a pre-emptive block during an upgrade and screw up that upgrade.
It happened with the upgrade to build 14379. It's been reported and I learned my lesson by disabling it on the other system that was ready for that same update.

You should actually thank Avast.
It's because Avast makes it possible for me to visit so many people and help them
realize how important Avast is in securing their technology, that all of this came about.

It was $29.95US = $40AU, Bobs discount code deducted $10AU (25%) = $30AU, yes it's a lifetime license.

Was the purchase made through the Winpatrol website? If it was, then the discount should be 50%

Yes it was done through the Winpatrol website, maybe the 50% discount has ended after the code discount has been pouring in since yesterday :)

I've just sent an email to Bret to get a reply as to why it wasn't 50% and referred him to this thread.
Let's see what he has to say.
Please remember,I don't make any commissions it's simply a courtesy extended to me by Winpatrol.  It actually started before Bret, the new owner took over.

It was 50% on mine, I paid through winpatrol's payment Merchant - Avangate B.V. - using Paypal.

Perhaps Bobs got too many friends ;)

EDIT: Were there any local/state taxes applied ?
Any discount would be taken of the product price not any taxes applied.
