PayPal - Cannot sign in w/ Avast
« on: December 06, 2005, 04:10:38 PM »
I cannot sign into PayPal now that I have Avast.  I placed the URL in the list so that it would take it but to no avail.

avast doesn't block, it monitors and detects virus infection and alerts you to it. Also if you are starting at a https: web page, avast doesn't monitor secure connections as they are encrypted. The Web Shield only monitors http content, so it is likely to be something like cookie blocking that is causing this.

What errors or warnings are you getting?
I have no problem getting into PayPal.

What is your OS?
What is your Firewall?
What is your browser?
Are you using a cookie blocking tool?

I understand that it does not block but nothing has changed except for Avast.  When I go back to Norton it works fine.

I think you may have said the magic words here Norton, there may well be a possibility that Norton wasn't fully removed when uninstalled (tougher to get rid of than a virus). A link worth looking at which is a program removal tool, which can remove the remnants of a number of different Norton Programs:
Removing your Norton program using SymNRT

You didn't answer any of the questions, we ask them to try and get information to help you.
