No seriously i hope Avast will move into a better direction of security and not of data collection.

In unity there is strength.
Maybe - but often it's better to have business competition  ;D
Combining the two, should result in one that's better than the rest of the competition.  :)

Dream further on ... I don't.
It's only marketing that counts.

I hope they'll make a complete crossover of features. avast! will finally gain a proper behavior blocker and enhanced cloud from AVG and AVG will gain new features like CyberCapture and hardened mode in addition to everything it already has plus a lot of smaller features. Only thing I'm afraid of will be the division between two products on the shoulders of the consumer. Which one to use, AVG or avast!. In general I have plans to stick with avast!, but I think I'll be reinstalling both quite often hehe XD

I may be running Avast on some systems and try out AVG on some others. Eventually there will only be one product, Avast. :)

As for Malware analysis and Cloud features like CyberCapture, it should be not that hard to combine/join efforts imo.

In the freemium market, the only other meaningful players are Microsoft, Qihoo, and Avira in Germany. Avira’s pretty small in Germany these days.

So, what does Avira have that makes it so good in detection?
