NEW: Beta version released - 12.2.2273
« on: July 19, 2016, 05:33:43 PM »
Hi all,

new beta version is live: 12.2.2273
In this release, we are trying to finish a few long going internal projects. Especially the improved licensing and registration to Windows Security center.

Fixes and improvements:
+ New licensing system
+ New implementation of Windows Security center registration
+ Rescue Disc fixed

Known Issues:
- Inserting license into expired program may cause invisibility of some components in the program UI. Repair fixes the issue.
- New components menu is not yet fully functional
- Windows Security center registration may not be successful in some cases. But please, report all occurrences which are not fixed by reboot.
- SafePrice plugin for Firefox may not show all available offers

Download links as usual or just update your current beta.

Enjoy,
Petr

What does this new licensing system mean? I hope it won't restrict us from de-activating a machine to reinstall Avast again in case someone formats his PC

It allows to install/uninstall components from the settings.

The components menu sounds like a cool feature to have. It's certainly more obvious than finding it in the uninstaller itself.

I also hope they'll redesign installer/uninstaller to follow the Windows theme and control. I had to once uninstall avast! on my tablet using only a keyboard in safe mode because touch wasn't working there (it only has one USB port so I couldn't use mouse and keyboard together) was absolutely terrifyingly bad. I tried selecting buttons using TAB key, arrow keys and space and the thing was all over the place. I couldn't even see what I was selecting so I was trying it blindly till I finally managed to randomly hit the right thing after 15 minutes of trying.

I believe components menu is the one in installer.

Anyways - I don't like the installer. Why? Because when it installs and "finishes", it actually continues to download/install in the background and the icon is not accessible for ~1 minute on my SSD setup.
It's supposed to be complete once avast icon shows in tray... Please do fix this.

Nope, it's a new section in the settings.
