Precautions for Windows 10 Anniversary Update?
« on: July 21, 2016, 11:01:39 PM »
Hi All

Precautions prior to installing the Anniversary update?  should Avast be uninstalled first prior to doing the update?  not sure if gonna do a clean install or do it via Windows update as yet,  this one I wanna get onto Windows 10 Pro fully, right now I can't select users for Remote Desktop, guess a bug from Windows 10 Home to Pro Upgrade issue as was mentioned in Microsoft Answers forum.  Another forum is recommending folks uninstall 3rd party Antiviruses and uses Defender to avoid issues for the update

Windows 10 Pro 64bit 1909 18363.476, Intel I7 7700 Nvidia Geforce 1050 16gb DDR4, WD 250GBSSD, 1tb Storage, Avast Free 19.8.2393
HP Omen Laptop Intel I7 7700HQ, 8gb Of Ram Windows 10 Home x64 1909 18363.476 128GB SSD, 1tb Storage, Avast Free 19.8.2393

Create a image of the system as it is now.
If something goes wrong, put back the image.

No need to uninstall anything prior to the update.
Everything should go well, unless MS screws up.

There hasn't been any problems with Avast installed and all of the many Insider Preview updates.
Why remove Avast ??? If you remove Avast, you should also remove any other programs that scan files for the same reason.
From experience, it hasn't been necessary for the previous builds and shouldn't be needed for the Anniversary update due on 8/2/2016.

The safest way is to keep a backup image before doing the anniversary update - that way if anything happens, you can revert back.
Windows 10 Home 64-bit • Avast Free (latest stable version) •  Malwarebytes 4 Premium (On-Demand) • Windows Firewall Control • Google Chrome • LastPass • CCleaner • O&O ShutUp10 •

From early beginning with Windows Insider Preview, I had no issues updating any beta versions with Avast installed and enabled :)

What are you trying to say ???
Your comment indicates uninstalling Avast before allowing a Windows update which is sheer nonsense.   :o

I will be turning off all programs that scan files prior to doing the update.
Avast, Malwarebytes, WnPatrol, WinPatrol AntiRansome

I will also not be doing anything online during the update. :)
