Adobe won't install. Wants me to turn off Avast temporarily.

Adobe Flash Player wants me to temporarily disable Avast to install its latest update. When I right click on Avast icon I don't get a Shields area to click on. In the meantime I can't view vids on Bing.

There is no need to turn off a av to be able to install a application (update), unless it is malware.
