Window 10 is tagged as the last version of Windows.
Why do we need a new version of Avast every month ???
We need a UI that's easy for all users to use and understand.
Avast 2015 had a good one.
Updates and enhancements to that central core UI monthly would be nice.

During installation, it will need internet access for the Emergency Updates to take place.

That defeats the whole purpose of an OFFLINE installer!

It was an errant emergency update that caused the problem.  The new emergency update that will be downloaded has no issues.

*sigh*
Like I've already stated several times now; some users (myself included) run these installers OFFLINE (like intended), and the Emergency Updater does NOT have internet access!
That's why we need new and fixed offline installers!!

If the Emergency Updater doesn't have access, it couldn't have downloaded the emergency update that caused all the others problems.

Using the Offline Installer posted in the first page...i've performed a fresh installation (using Windows 7 64bit) WITHOUT an internet connection. Here it is:

So, i can confirm that it is SAFE to use the offline installer even if you are totally offline.Since the default build was .0 not .2

"Quality Assurance Director"? Maybe you should do a better job! If you had to pay everyone on this forum who has reported wasting hours of troubleshooting on the latest "you are unprotected" error an hourly wage, Avast would be bankrupt by now.

Now I'm going to see whether I can fix this with the latest update, which is rather tricky if neither the regular UI nor AvastEmUpdate.exe gives any indication on progress or completion.

Tomaso, read petr's post carefully, he certainly said they will update offline installers as well.

we will be definitely releasing new offline installers sooner.

But also have this in mind, too;
So, it is a generally good idea to be on-line at least sometimes to have everything up-to-date.

Not all people are using avast like yours, and that sometimes make some downsides as Eddy said.

I keep the virus definitions up-to-date, if that's what you mean.

Rather this:
During the month, between big releases, we are fixing bugs using emergency updates, updating engine and virus definitions couple of times a day using the virus definition updates. Moreover, every couple of minutes, virus definitions are updated via the streaming update channel.

Virus definitions is just one of the things to be updated.

BTW, you quote petr's saying like mine, please be careful not to do that.

Well, I let the Emergency Updater slip through once, and it screwed me over:

Lesson learned!

Sorry 'bout that.
I've fixed it now.
There were a lot of quotes within quotes going on. :)

I hate bootstrap setup installers...to have to hunt here for the full offline installer will annoy many IT people....when you have multiple PC's to do a 6.0Mb bootstrap installer is a fricking nightmare...

There is no "hunting". There is always a stickied post on top about latest version here:

...with all the stub and full installers. You just typed in a such thread. Look at the first post of this thread. All the links are there.

In this video if you go to part where the user shows the components, the user shows he can install "Secure DNS", "Antispam", "Firewall", "Sandbox". These options I am aware they are paid options but these options shown within the video are listed as install componets which means the user has yet to buy them and these options are visable within the components section of avast free antivirus. I just installed the latest update and when I view the components section these options are not there. So if i want to buy the firewall for example and this option is not there, as i cant click on "install component" so how does one buy this component?

I have removed Avast antivirus and re-installed, I even repaired and the option to install the components in regards to  "Secure DNS", "Antispam", "Firewall", "Sandbox" are not visable within the component menu. Can anyone confirm they can see these options within the free avast antivirus and does it say "install component". As i really want to buy the firewall but the option to install it isnt within my component menu.

I have added images to better explain the situation.
